📋 Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Fold the Fuselage Centerline and Initial Dart Nose
Lay a sheet of paper vertically on a flat surface and fold it in half lengthwise, burnishing the crease with your ruler before opening it back up. Fold the top left and top right corners downward so their diagonal edges align precisely flush along the center crease line, creating a clean top triangle.
- • A sharp 90-degree triangular point forms at the top edge of the paper.
- • Both diagonal flaps meet seamlessly at the center crease without overlapping.
- • Overlapping the top corners at the center line, which causes asymmetric drag during flight.
Perform the Secondary Dart Taper
Take the outer sloping edges of the triangle and fold them inward once more toward the center crease. Run your bone folder firmly over each fold to ensure sharp, low-profile edges that minimize air resistance.

Crease the Wings and Set Dihedral Angle
Flip the model over and fold the entire plane in half along the original center spine so the angled folds are on the inside. Fold each wing down so the top fold line runs completely parallel to the bottom keel, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the keel edge, then gently tilt both wings upward at a slight 10-degree positive dihedral angle.
- • A distinct 1-inch keel handle runs along the bottom of the plane.
- • Wings form a shallow 'Y' shape when viewed directly from the front.
- • Folding wings downward (anhedral angle), causing the plane to immediately barrel roll into the ground.
Install the Reinforced Launch Hook
Wrap 2 inches of clear tape tightly around the bottom keel, about 1 inch back from the nose tip to reinforce the paper. Unbend the outer loop of a paperclip to a 45-degree angle, slide the flat end against the keel underside pointing backward toward the tail, and secure it firmly with multiple layers of tape or a staple.

- • The tape binding is tight and flush against the paper fuselage without air bubbles.

Construct the Wooden Launcher Handle
Loop one end of the thick rubber band over the top tip of the wooden craft stick. Secure the band to the stick by tightly wrapping 4 to 5 passes of tape over the band loop, leaving the remaining elastic loop dangling freely off the end of the stick.

Load, Align, and Launch
Grip the craft stick vertically in your non-dominant hand and loop the free rubber band onto the plane's keel hook. With your dominant hand, pinch the rear keel of the paper plane, pull it straight back to stretch the elastic to moderate tension, aim 15 degrees upward into open space, and smoothly release the tail pinch.
