How to Make a 3D Paper Rosette Flower

📋 Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Measure and Cut Paper Strips
Align your metal ruler parallel to the long edge of an A4 sheet. Mark three equal strips measuring 8 cm in width using a pencil. Cut smoothly along the pencil guidelines using scissors to create three identical rectangular strips.
- • Three neat, uniform paper strips lying side-by-side with straight, unfrayed edges.
- • Cutting uneven widths across the strips.
Accordion Fold the Strips
Take the first paper strip and fold a 1.5 cm pleat along the short edge. Flip the paper over and fold the exact same width backward, repeating back and forth in an accordion pattern to the end. Crease each fold firmly using a bone folder, then repeat for the remaining two strips.
- • Three tight, accordion-pleated stacks with sharp, clean creases and consistent 1.5 cm spacing.
- • Varying the fold width as you progress down the strip.
Shape the Petal Tips
Compress each accordion-folded strip into a tight block. Use sharp scissors to round off both outer corners on one end of the folded stack, creating a curved, petal-like contour. Repeat on one end of all three folded strips at the same angle.
- • All three folded stacks have smooth, identical semicircular curves on their top ends.
- • Cutting through too many layers at once with dull scissors, resulting in ragged edges.
Join Strips End-to-End
Apply a thin layer of glue stick along the flat end pleat of the first strip. Overlap and press the end pleat of the second strip onto it, holding for 5 seconds. Attach the third strip in the same manner, then join the final two outer ends to create a continuous pleated ring.
- • A closed, cylindrical ring of accordion-pleated paper with all rounded petal tips facing upward.
- • Gluing the wrong side, which disrupts the alternating valley-and-mountain fold pattern.
Collapse and Secure the Rosette Base
Place the pleated ring upright on your work surface. Gently press the outer edges inward while pushing the center down toward the table until it flattens into a flat, circular rosette. Place a dime-sized dollop of hot glue directly in the center cavity and hold flat for 15 seconds until the adhesive sets.
- • A fully flattened circular rosette radiating from the center with no pleats popping back up.
- • Releasing pressure too early before the hot glue has cooled and cured.
Attach Center Embellishment
Apply a single bead of hot glue directly onto the top center point of the rosette where all pleats meet. Position the decorative pearl or button firmly over the glue dot, pressing straight down for 5 seconds to lock it in place and conceal all seam joints.

- • Using excessive glue that squeezes out around the edges of the center ornament.
