📋 Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Measure and Cut Ribbon Pieces
Using a ruler, measure and cut three pieces of ribbon: one 10-inch piece for the main loops, one 7-inch piece for the tails, and one 2-inch piece for the center wrap. Make straight, clean cuts across the ribbon using sharp fabric scissors.
- • Three distinct ribbon segments laid flat on the table: long (10 in), medium (7 in), and short (2 in).
- • Cutting jagged edges using dull household paper scissors.
Heat-Seal All Cut Edges
Hold each cut ribbon edge taut and pass the blue base of a lighter flame swiftly along the raw edge. You only need a fraction of a second to slightly melt synthetic fibers and stop fraying.
- • Ribbon ends have a smooth, clear, hardened edge with zero loose threads.
- • Holding the flame in one spot too long, causing the ribbon to scorch or curl.
Form Loop Ring and Find Center
Take the 10-inch ribbon strip and overlap the two sealed ends by 0.5 inches in the center to form a flat loop. Press the loop flat and pinch the exact vertical center line to mark the fold.
- • A flattened oval loop with overlapping seam centered directly in the back.
- • Placing the seam off to one side instead of centered on the back.
Accordion Pinch and Secure Center
Pinch the center of the ribbon loop with an accordion fold: one valley fold in the middle and two mountain folds at the top and bottom edges. Wrap sewing thread or craft wire tightly around the pinched center 4 to 5 times and knot securely.

Attach Tails and Wrap Center Band
